In the short 36 years that Henry Purcell lived in the 17th century, he created a body of beautiful music. English country dances set to Purcell tunes range from entertaining and somewhat silly (Tythe Pig, with music from his opera, King Arthur), to favorites of the core repertoire (like Lilliburlero and Wa' Is Me, What Mun I Do), to the sublime (Fried Herman's 20th century classic, Michael and All Angels). We'll sample a mix of familiar and not-so-familiar dances set to Purcell music.
