| Who’s ready to defend democracy? In 1860, men and women from all over the United States gathered in parlors, town squares, churches, meeting halls, and street corners. They called themselves the ‘Wide-Awakes’, and had two goals: convince a skeptical public that democracy was worth fighting for, and elect Abraham Lincoln as president of the United States. They marched, chanted, sang, listened to fiery speeches, and, eventually, succeeded. We, The Cropper Lads, want your help waking up their ghosts. |
