| The waltz originated in the late 1700s and has been an essential part of ballroom dancing ever since. We will illustrate waltzes from various eras with commentary on the historical development of the waltz. |

| Learn the traditional right-turning or “rotary” waltz, as done at contra dances and weddings. We teach the basic turning step in a natural way but emphasize good technique, which lets the step travel easily around the room. |

| Tango originated in Argentina around 1900 and quickly spread to Europe and America. This vintage form of American tango is easy to learn and it’s fun to do! We teach the basic steps and a handful of useful variations that you can do to various types of tango music. |
